A:I am from West Bloomfield, Michigan.
Q:When did you gain an interest in bodybuilding?
A:When I was a freshman in college I got into the partying lifestyle, I was drinking and eating terribly and I had gotten out of shape. My whole life I was always in pretty good condition because of years of playing basketball, running cross country and track, so I started feeling down on myself and fitness was a way out for me- a solution to how I could change my life both mentally and physically.
Q:How did you get involved with the WBFF?
A:The WBFF always was interesting to me because the shows are so different than any other organization. They also had categories for men that weren't the extremes such as bodybuilding is today, so it gave me an option to compete somewhere at a high level and stay natural. I did my first show in 2012 in Kansas City where I received my pro card, making me the second youngest pro muscle model- at 22 years old.
Q:Do you ever get people who can't believe you're a natural bodybuilder?
A:LOL, yes everyday. I think a lot of the time people put on limit on what they think is achievable naturally because they have never truly tested their own potential. If you train hard and your nutrition is optimal with a good lifestyle surrounding that I think people would be surprised on what they could accomplish. I do this to inspire others and I want to represent possibilities on how far the human body can go without “help”, so I will always remain natural.
Q:Describe your favorite workout routines…
A:Any leg day! I love training legs because of the challenge that it brings. Anyone can pump up chest or biceps, but if you can squat ATG or do some heavy deadlifts for multiple sets that’s when respect is earned. This is a routine I do consistently:
405lbs Squats ATG 4 sets 8-10 reps PRE ( perceived rate of exertion) 8-9
475lbs Romanian Deadlifts 3-4 sets 8-10 reps PRE 8-9
Leg extensions 4 sets 12 reps till failure each set
Leg Curls 3-4 sets 8-10 reps PRE 9
Weighted 50 yard walking lunges 3 trips
Q:Tell us about being NASM certified…
A:NASM stands for National Academy of Sports Medicine. It’s the cream of the crop personal training certification that brings in human anatomy, physiology and scientific training to help everyone, no matter their goal, to get into the best shape possible. I just recently received this certification and I am excited to help others get to their fitness goals. Within the past three decades chronic diseases has risen drastically, accounting for 70% of deaths in the United States, (a large part of which are preventable if proper lifestyle choices are instituted). So being NASM certified is the first step for me in helping and inspiring others to live healthier, happier lives.
Q:Where do you want your career to go from here?
A:I wanna inspire others to be the best they can be and live healthier lives. Personal goals? I want to have one of the greatest physiques of all time.
Q:Who do you credit as your biggest inspiration?
A:God, because he has given me a strong belief in myself and my abilities
