A:I am originally from Hays, located in western Kansas about 4.5 hours east of Denver, CO.
Q:Why did you choose to compete in the WBFF?
A:In 2013 I was introduced to my coach and team out of OKC and instantly fell in love with them and the organization. The WBFF shows are like the Victoria Secret fashion shows but with fitness models! It’s a chance for the athletes such as myself to really have fun and show off all of our hard work (dieting and strenuous workouts we’ve been training for). I’ve noticed with other organizations that I’ve attended the competitors get very little stage time and aren’t able to entertain as much. So after my first show in 2013 I knew this was the organization I wanted to stay with and hope to one day represent as a Pro!
Q:Tell us about your own workout routine and diet...
A:My diet is pretty simple and kinda boring to be honest lol! I’m a creature of habit! The word diet doesn’t really play a role in my vocabulary because this is my lifestyle. After being diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2009, I have had to make some big changes to the way I eat and live. When I stumbled upon the sport of competing and told people I would have to diet down for shows everyone laughed and said, “that’s what you eat everyday anyway” haha- and they were right. I try to stick to the “eat clean – get lean” concept, I like to know what I’m putting in my body and I like to feed my body wholesome foods. Off season I am the same way. I may have a few treats here and there, but I usually take a normal recipe and twist it around to make it healthy and gluten free!
Q:HIIT cardio or static state cardio?
A:I try to do HIIT cardio 1-2 days a week. I stick to fasted cardio in the morning, usually biking to the gym 10 miles and then at night time running stadium stairs or the stair master, very rarely will you see me on the elliptical or treadmill! If you do, I’m watching Netflix lol!
Q:When's your next competition?
A:My next show is October 4, 2014. After last year’s struggles and battles of my Bell’s Palsy and food poisoning before my show, I am so ready to stand proud on that stage. I can’t even imagine how emotional I’m going to be show day considering all I have overcome. The progress I have made is simply amazing. I am so grateful and blessed.
