A:I am born and raised on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland.
Q:Favourite place to eat?
A:Coffee Club on the Coolangatta Esplanade. I love the variety of food choices and I absolutely love that the beach is just a few meters away. Its beautiful to sit there, have a coffee while eating a healthy meal and be right along the beach.
Q:Why did you get into fitness?
A:Like many teenage girls, I was insecure about my weight and was willing to try every fad diet out there hoping that it would get me the body that I desired. I was completely un-educated in nutrition and training and believed that not eating and countless hours of cardio was the way to achieving a healthy and toned body. I would eat little to nothing all day and weigh myself numerous times throughout the day hoping that the number on the scales would go down. It wasn’t until I joined a local gym when I was about 20 years old and invested in a personal trainer that I learnt the importance of eating healthy nutritious foods and the role that resistance training plays in achieving the body that I wanted. I was training with my personal trainer 3 times a week and on alternative days I would take part in pump, boxing and cycling classes that my gym offered. I began to love anything to do with exercise, it became fun for me and it quickly became part of my everyday routine. The time in the gym was paying off and within a few months I was noticing more changes in my body then I had seen in years. I was completely hooked and had fallen in love with exercise, the health benefits and the happiness that it had brought me!
It has since been two years since I began my fitness journey I can now say that health and fitness has become my love and passion. I have since completed my Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness and Nutrition and still continue to educate myself on a daily basis. The amount of books, websites, podcasts, videos and articles I have on my list of things to read/watch is huge and the thought of learning it all excites me! Being fit and active has given me more happiness, confidence and fulfilment then I could have ever imagined. It’s become such a huge part of my life and I love being able to inspire and motivate other girls who are going through similar body issues that I have been through.
Q:Did being fit lead you into your modelling career?
A:Definitely! Before I started living a healthy and active lifestyle I was very unhappy with my body, had low self-confidence would have never got in a bikini on camera even if you paid me! Exercising and living an active lifestyle has enabled me to love life, love myself and be the best version of myself possible. My goal was never to pursue ‘modelling’ as I never really wanted to be a ‘model’. My main focus is to be healthy, fit and happy and that is the main drive behind my love of exercising and embracing a healthy lifestyle. There are so many more benefits to exercising other than just looking ‘good’ and this is a message that I try and get across to other girls. Modelling would have never been something I would have pursued in the past but since I have started to focus on my fitness and overall happiness there have been so many exciting doors of opportunity that have come my way. It has been so much fun combining my love for fitness and modelling and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me in both of these industries.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and the pathway that my life has gone down has been nothing short of amazing. I’m very grateful to be doing something that I am so passionate about and that makes me so happy. Its such a shame that many girls who pursue modelling fall into very unhealthy eating habits just to try and look good enough for the industry. Too many times girls are just uneducated on nutrition and believe that under-nourishing their bodies will lead to weight loss and help them achieve the body that they desire. I really hope that combining my love for modelling and fitness that I can educate these women and be a positive and healthy role model for them.
Q:Where have you been featured?
A:My most recent publication is October in the 2014 Wet N Wild Calendar.
Q:What other hats do you wear?
A:Aside from modelling and promotional work, I have recently completed my Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness & Nutrition. I am really looking forward to being able to inspire, motivate and educate other women to live a healthy lifestyle and be the happiest and healthiest version of themselves.
Q:What's next for you and your career?
A:As I mentioned above, I have just completed my studies in Fitness & Nutrition. To turn my passion into a career is my ultimate aspiration! You know what they say, “If you do something you love, you will never work a day in your life!”
Q:I agree! Can you give us all of your social media handles?
A:Social media is a fantastic way to network with like minded people and I love that I can share my fitness and modelling journey with those who I am connected with.
