A:Okay, so I'm from northern VA.
Q:Why is fitness your chosen career?
A:My dad is a top doctor in the D.C. area and my mum is a nurse, so I've always been brought up with a healthy diet and athletically encouraging parents. Fitness for me isn't a career- I worked in Bank Finance Law in a huge firm in NY. I went to UVA for a bachelors in history and Georgetown to pursue a masters in public relations and corporate communications. Fitness is a passion. I started because friends kept asking me to go on gym dates with them. Then strangers started coming up to me in the gym asking what exercises I did because they wanted to do them to. I started helping people that way and soon I started helping people via Instagram and email. I guess it kind of exploded from there. I get so many emails now that I have been able to make it into more of a career than I'd initially set out to do. But I love helping people. The emails I get from girls saying they're bullied in school because they're overweight, or new moms who finalllyyy get their abs back. I live for those thank you emails. I really enjoy what I do and only wish there were more hours in the day to help people regain not just their booty or abs, but also that happy and healthy smile that comes along with that new-found self confidence. I love what I do. Thats why I do it.
Q:Tell us about your own workout routine and diet...
A:I have a varied routine. I'm always trying new routines or new classes, because I like to be able to keep it exciting for both myself and my clients. I love yoga. It keeps me flexible and brings some peace of mind after the stressful high energy days that followed a New York law firm. But then sometimes all I want is to squeeze a quick ab routine in on my living room floor during my favorite TV shows, or run outside somewhere with pretty scenery, or hit the gym for some stair master and weights. I also believe in natural exercise--I don't have to always lift weights--I can get a great arm workout in going kayaking, or a booty boot camp going on a hike. So for someone who works out a lot it has to stay exciting--I truly believe in muscle confusion to get out of that plateau!
Q:How do you detail a workout and diet routine for your clients?
A:I ask a lot of questions about age height weight, diet, injuries and allergies, current routines, preferred ways of exercising (a gym vs at home), what their daily schedule is (student, at home mom, busy office worker). I try to understand their goals and give them something with enough flexibility that it actually works for the average person, not just fitness addicts. I work full time and still find time. I think being able to relate is part of what makes my clients reach success. I also customize it week by week--so they have a chance to give me more feedback after week 1, so that week 2 can be even better tailored for them. If you want to know more about what makes my process so successful maybe you should get a custom plan for yourself--cant give away all my secrets! :)
Q:Fair enough lol. What other projects are you working on?
A:I have many projects and hobbies. As far as my love of fitness goes- I also am a Beachbody coach for my clients who want workout dvds or supplements, I help a lot of people with PR, and social media marketing, and more recently I've been asked to help with a start up company that I think could revolutionize the fitness world--stay tuned for the big launch.
Q:Can you give us all of your social media handles?
A:Sure--please go like and follow!!! Love connecting with my fitness fam! :)
