A:Nope... I’m a Midwest girl! Actually born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I moved to Long Island, New York when I was 18.
Q:Favorite place to eat in NY?
A:In NYC my favorite restaurant is Sushi Samba 7... the best!! For Long Island restaurants, my favorite is Besito... for awesome Mexican food when I can have a cheat meal! A great place to eat that always has diet-friendly options, even in contest prep is Fuel Cafe in Hicksville. They will prepare your food exactly how you want it- it’s a great place I can always count on to meet with friends.
Q:What does your pre-contest diet look like?
A:Pre-contest it’s high protein, moderate carbs and fats. I usually eat 6 meals plus a post-workout shake. My protein sources include fish, chicken, turkey, egg whites and MET-Rx Natural Whey Protein Powder. Carbohydrates come from sweet potatoes, oatmeal, brown rice, vegetables and limited fruits. My fat sources include olive oil, coconut oil, and almond butter.
Q:What does your weekly workout regimen look like?
A:I lift weights 5-6 days a week, usually hitting each body part twice a week. For cardio it depends how close I am to a contest. I do a minimum of 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week all the way up to 2 hours a day pre-contest.
Q:How did you become a MET-Rx Athlete?
A:I began working for MET-Rx in March of 2011 as a Brand Representative and Product Specialist. As of July 2012 I signed on as an Official Team MET-Rx Athlete... I feel very honored to be a part of such an amazing team, representing the best there is in sports nutrition! I love the MET-Rx products and everything the brand stands for!
Q:How did you hook up with Team Bombshell?
A:I remember when I was competing at my first NPC Bikini show, the NPC Metropolitan in April of 2011, I saw this group of women all helping each other get ready for the stage, having fun and laughing together. They all looked wonderful and polished from head to toe. At the finals when their coach arrived I recognized this blonde woman with a killer physique- it was Shannon Dey, founder and head coach of Team Bombshell. From that day on I knew I wanted to be a part of Team Bombshell. I officially joined the Team in July of 2011 and have been with them ever since. I am grateful to Shannon Dey, Rob Rosetti and all of Team Bombshell for the positive impact they have made on my life on and off the stage.
Q:What's harder, training a client or getting yourself ready to hit the stage?
A:Definitely getting myself ready! I am my own worst critic, as most of us are. I drive myself crazy thinking what could be better? Am I doing enough, am I doing too much? This is why I recommend that everyone should work with a coach, no matter what level. We all need an unbiased opinion of our progress, as well as a voice of reason to tell us, “relax and just follow your plan!”.
Q:Someone wants to become a NPC competitor like yourself, what piece of advice would you give her?
A:Be patient with yourself and patient with your body. Success and results can take years of hard work and perseverance. You have to do it for yourself, for a love of fitness and love of the sport. You can’t be only about 1st place every time or you will end up disappointed, and also you will miss out on all the other amazing things the sport can bring into your life.
Q:If you had to pick one person who you would credit as being your biggest inspiration in life, who would it be and why?
A:My mom and dad. They are amazing parents and incredible people whom I admire so much. They both have gone through hardships and struggles, but have overcome any obstacle and come out on top, with a positive attitude. They showed me the value of hard work, brought me up to live with integrity, and taught me to always being kind and respectful to others. I consider myself extremely blessed to have parents who I can count on for anything and who I consider to be my closest friends.
