Q:When did you decide to compete in the NPC?
A:After I finished my college baseball career in 2012.
Q:What do physique judges look for, in your opinion?
A:Symmetry, aesthetic taper, back and lat development, stage presence, waist streamline.
Q:What body fat percentage do you compete at?
Q:Can you give us your diet pre contest?
A:This year I'm starting at 250g carbs,350g protein and 50g fat. I will begin a carb cycle after a month and slowly cut back carbs and fat as contest gets closer.
Q:What pre contest workout style do you do?
A:I like to stay heavy but controlled during my compound movements and I love drop sets, and neuromuscular overload sets for single joint movements. Intention and form are crucial, I really squeeze every rep with full range of motion.
Q:Describe the transition to fitness model...
A:I think men's physique and fitness modeling kind of go hand and hand. For me however, I feel like I have a good bit of growing to do and am I not a naturally ectomorphic person who can stay lean year while trying to up my macros and gain mass. So I only shoot a few months out of the year around competitions. I have a true winter offseason, years down the road- once I have really got to where I need to be with my development- then I will fine tune things and stay in photo shape longer.
Q:Where have you been published?
A:I have done some work with several independent photographers. NorthAmericanbodies.com is my most recent but no major magazines or anything yet.
Q:How long before you're changing pampers?
A:My son is now 9 weeks old and I can't wait to take him to his first competition!
Q:What's next for your career?
A:I graduated college on May 10 and have applied to a couple of companies in the fitness industry, my favorite is Muscletech. I will continue as a trainer and a prep coach and hope to find my place in this great industry for the rest of my career as a professional and a competitor.
Q:Can you give us all of your social media handles?
