A:I’m born and raised a south Florida girl!
Q:Why did you first get into fitness?
A:I’ve always lived an active lifestyle but got more involved in fitness when I began prepping for my first competition. After seeing my body transform by means of consistent clean eating and exercise, I was hooked!
Q:Why did you pursue being a NPC bikini competitor?
A:My trainer, Dennis Sheppard at New Body Architects, actually specializes in training men and women for competitions. He had been training me for a couple months and asked me if I had ever thought about competing, which I had! I’m the type of girl that loves a challenge so I said to myself, “why not?!”. My first show was the 2012 NPC Diamond Classic and I placed first in my bikini class. Currently, I’m training for my second competition and I’m super excited!
Q:What's a typical week long gym routine look like for you?
A:Well, that depends on if I’m preparing for a show or not. Right now I’m about 3 weeks out from my next competition so some days I am waking up at 5am to get some extra gym time in before work! I am with my trainer 3 times a week working mostly on building my legs and shoulders. I have 1 rest day, and the other 3 days I split between arms, back, and abs.
Q:Give us your contest prep diet...
A:My diet actually changes fairly frequently. My trainer will look at me and we will make necessary changes from week to week. I carb cycle because that seems to work best for my body. In general, I stick to a high protein diet which consists of eggs, chicken, lean turkey, and lean beef. I also eat loads of vegetables and stick to complex carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potatoes. Additionally, I make sure I drink plenty of water daily.
Q:Describe being a VPX Model...
A:Being a VPX Sports spokes model is absolutely amazing! VPX Sports/Redline Energy is a wonderful company to work for. I am blessed to have great bosses and an amazing team of sisters that encourage and support each other. I love being able to say I work for the leading sports nutrition and supplement company. I use VPX Sports/Redline Energy products on a daily basis. Our products are university tested and most importantly, highly effective. I enjoy doing supplement samplings because I’m outgoing and love interacting with people. I really take pleasure in educating others about our great line of products! Also, be on the look out for our 2013 Redline Xtreme Girls Calendar which will be released this October!
Q:Definitely will! When you're not competing or modeling, what are you doing?
A:Working! I work full time at a law firm so everything pretty much revolves around my job. When I manage to have some spare time, which is not very often, I love to relax at the beach or on a boat. I used to swim in high school so I’m a fish when it comes to the water! ☺
Q:Who has been you're greatest inspiration and why?
A:I would have to say fitness model Jamie Eason. I think she is such a fabulous role model for any woman. She always motivates and inspires me when I read her posts and most importantly, I love how strong she is in her faith.
Q:Where do you see your career in 5 years?
A:Well by then I hope I will have gotten my pro card! I also aspire to be a more prominent figure in the fitness industry and get published in some major fitness magazines, (Oxygen if you’re reading this holla… haha!). I plan on going back to school and getting my degree in nutrition so I can continue to educate others. And, maybe find my gym partner for life1 ;)
