A:I was born in the city of Providence in the itsy bitsy state of Rhode Island! I lived there for most of childhood, before moving to beautiful south Florida, then to South Carolina, and now I'm loving life here in Atlanta, GA.
Q:Describe your journey to becoming a NPC bikini competitor...
A:I was working as a Personal Trainer for a Gold's Gym in South Carolina, where almost the whole training staff competed in NPC shows. So I was fully surrounded by the lifestyle! I was introduced to the idea of competing by an incredibly inspirational couple, Ronnie and Kathy Rowland, who are both competitive bodybuilders, and trainers at that gym. I was so fascinated by their food plans, workouts, supplement regimens, and EXTREME dedication! They were just so passionate about their shows and their lifestyle, it was incredibly inspirational. They told me that I would love the experience of competing, and that I should do a show! I had NO idea what to do to prepare, but they taught me so so much, and guided me through everything I needed to know. I competed in my first show, and I placed 2nd! I was shocked lol... but I was also hooked!
Q:What's the hardest part about hitting the stage?
A:I think the mental preparation is the toughest. I'm my own worst critic, and I am a perfectionist. I have this thing I call the "3 week-out freak-out", haha, when I'm about 3 weeks away from stepping on the stage and I worry that I won't be ready. I have to struggle to NOT second guess myself when it comes to the diet, workouts, cardio, etc, and tell myself to just "stick to the plan" and to trust that I'll be ready, and I will be...aaaaand I usually end up laughing at myself later for my mini freak out... lol
Q:How did you hook up with Team Bombshell?
A:When I moved away from South Carolina, I really missed being surrounded by all those other competitors while doing my show preps. I missed that support and feeling of being a part of a team. I started to research all of training teams that are out there, and fell in love with everything that Team Bombshell stands for. Their girls always look perfectly polished at every show, they are very positive, and incredibly supportive of each other. And the "tough love" and honesty of Coach Shannon Dey is awesome! I applied to the team, was accepted, and flew to Daytona to meet them a.s.a.p.!
Q:You're also a model. How did that happen?
A:I've been modeling since I was a child- my Mom worked for a big company that was putting together children's clothing advertisements, and they needed models. I did it, and I discovered that I loved the feeling of being in front of the camera! So it's been a part of who I am for a long time, and I love it!
Q:Where have you been featured?
A: I've been featured in advertisements for multiple companies, in newspapers, catalogs, and on many health club flyers here in Atlanta. I also do promotional modeling for products, and events, as well as runway shows. I love fashion modeling, but fitness modeling is my true love!
Q:What's the hardest part about being a personal trainer?
A:Saying goodbye. I've moved 3 times during my personal training career, and leaving my clients after the the relationship and trust that we've built together, takes a serious emotional toll on me. We go through highs and lows, achievements and tears, struggles both inside the gym, and in their personal lives. We bond, and build a friendship, and it's definitely hard to leave. I love to keep in touch, and hear that I've inspired them to change their lives and keep on going on their own! I absolutely love that! I want so badly for everyone that I work with to succeed, and I'm their biggest cheerleader even after I'm gone!
Q:Being a Lifestyle Coach, rewarding?
A: Unbelievably rewarding. I am able to follow my dreams of helping others to live the life they want! I also believe it helps me keep my focus on what's really important, to not forget 'the little things' in life, and to ALWAYS do what I can to help others. I'm a huge believer of "practicing what you preach", and I do, both in, and outside of the gym. When I know I've changed someone's life for the better, it is truly a feeling that words cannot describe! It's priceless!
Q:You're on death row and you can have 1 last meal, what is it?
A:A HUGE hot brownie! With hot fudge, and ice cream on top! lol :)
