A:I am originally from Marlton, NJ.
Q:Why is fitness your chosen career?
A:Fitness is my chosen career because it not only satisfies by life physically, but mentally. Seeing progressive changes in both my clients and myself are what make this field so rewarding. I believe there is an unlimited potential in everyone and once they believe they can do it, anything is possible. Through fitness I learned to go beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone and really give it my all. As long as I am continually striving to be better than I was yesterday, the possibilities are endless in how far I want to take my body. Being in this field, I have learned so much about diet and nutrition. I value my overall health and wellness and I think it is so important to educate others who may not know as much. That is what us trainers are here for. We are here to help those who want to feel better about themselves by providing them with the confidence they need to succeed. This industry has done nothing but change my life in a positive direction and my ultimate goal is for others to have that exact same experience.
Q:Why did you choose to compete in the NPC?
A:I chose to compete in the NPC because I felt it was one of the more reputable organizations. I have friends who also compete in the NPC, so it was something I was more familiar with. They always put on a great show and make it a great experience for the audience.
Q:Tell us about your own workout routine and diet, pre contest...
A:My workout routine for contest prep is pretty rigorous. I train six days a week and do cardio seven days a week. I train for about two hours daily, which eats into a lot of my time, but I make it work because it is something that it is so important to me. I train legs twice a week. Legs are crucial because with bikini, your hamstrings and glutes need to be on point. I will either combine shoulders and chest or shoulders and back. I include an arm day where I superset everything for biceps and triceps. I’m always watching the clock. I believe it’s important to time your rest periods in order to get the most out of whatever you are training. My diet is pretty consistent all throughout contest prep. I eat six meals a day. For breakfast I’ll have eggs, grapefruit, and oats. One of my meals always includes my post workout protein shake. The rest of my meals include a protein and vegetable. I add in carbs to those meals that fall around my workouts. I include greens in all my meals, even my shake because my body needs to proper fuel in order to perform at its best.
Q:You're also a cpt. How do you detail a workout and diet routine for your clients?
A:When I detail I workout routine for clients I base it off of their age and their activity level. I really try to get them to feel comfortable with lifting weights because there are so many people who just go to the gym and only utilize the cardio machines. When I give them their workout plan, I run through any exercises they have questions about and concentrate on their form. I develop a meal plan based on their goals. If they are looking to lose weight, I make sure they are always in a caloric deficit. When you are in a deficit, it is impossible for your body not to lose weight. I make sure they are getting all the right nutrients and an adequate amount of protein that their body needs. If someone is trying to put on weight, I increase their caloric intake by five hundred calories. I like to check in with my clients once a week and make adjustments when necessary because your body gets used to things, so you constantly have to change it up.
Q:Who has been your greatest inspiration?
A:My greatest inspiration would have to be Michelle Lewin. She has an awesome body and she is someone who I look up to. Her and her husband are dedicated to their fitness lifestyle and I hope that one day I find someone who loves the fitness world just as much as I do. She is a beautiful women and I give her all the credit in the world for how much she has accomplished and how far she has come. As my body matures, I hope to attain a physique as good as hers or even better.
