A:I was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. I currently live in Point Pleasant, New Jersey with my husband Eric, a NJ State Trooper and our two sons, Tucker and Mason.
Q:When did you begin your fitness career?
A:I was always an athlete growing up; excelling in soccer, field hockey and basketball. I remember joining my first gym when I was just 14 years old. Competing was always a dream of mine and after the birth of my second son, I decided there was no better time. So just 8 months later in the Summer of 2013, I began my fitness journey. My first contest was the 2013 NPC New Jersey Gold’s Classic Championships on October 26th, 2013. I placed 2nd in Figure Open C and 2nd in Novice… for 12 weeks of training and my very first show, I was so excited! Then I competed in the NPC Eastern USA’s in NYC on November 16th. 2013 and placed 3rd in Open Figure D and 4th in Novice… I couldn’t believe it! I am currently preparing for my next show which will be the NPC Junior USA Championships in May 2014… and the ultimate goal is set… try to earn an IFBB Pro Card!!!
Q:Why did you choose to compete in the NPC?
A:After deciding to compete, I immediately knew I wanted to join the National Physique Committee. Most of the top athletes in the sport started their careers with the NPC, later succeeding to the IFBB Professional League. James Manion, the NPC President, NPC District Chairpeople and the NPC Staff truly run such an extraordinary organization.
Q:What does your pre contest diet and workout routine look like?
A:My pre contest prep including both diet and training usually starts about 14 weeks out from a show. My diet generally is about 6-7 meals a day eating about every two hours. I always prepare my meals in advance and never leave home without my Six Pack Bags Cooler, a gallon of water and a cup of coffee. My diet consists of protein (a serving at every meal); lean red meats, fish, chicken, turkey, and eggs. I eat at least 3 green vegatables a day; broccoli, asparagus, green beans or spinach. My complex carbs and healthy fats include:, brown rice, sweet potatoes, yams, almonds, cashews and 100% Natural Peanut Butter. Supplementation is a huge part of pre contest diet. My favorite MHP supplements include; Isofast Whey Protein, Probolic-SR Protein, Fit and Lean Power Pak Pudding, X-Fit Trainer, Creatine, BCAA 3300, Glutamine-SR, Activite Sport, Omega Strong, Dopamite and XPEL.
My workouts are based around the big lifts; squats, deadlifts and bench. I focus on compound lifts, that of more of a powerlifter, supplemented by isolated exercises. I perform cardio or HIIT sessions 5-6 days a week for 45mins-1hour. I train 6 days a week, with one rest day.
Q:Tell us about being sponsored by MHP...
A:I am truly so very honored to be sponsored by Maximum Human Performance. Mr. Gerard Dente, President and CEO of MHP, gave me an amazing opportunity to be part of MHP. He, along with Fabian Orozoco and the entire team at MHP have been an instrumental part of my transformation from athlete to NPC Nationally Qualified Figure Competitor. MHP is the PERFORMANCE NUTRITION INNOVATORS! www.mhpstrong.com
