A:Hello my name is Maurice Talton. I grew up in the Bronx, NY in Edenwald projects. My goal has always been to play professional football and baseball, (I received invites to the NY Jets and the Indianapolis Colts workouts!)
Q:BX! Why is fitness your chosen career?
A::In 2007 tore my ACL and MCL playing Arena Football in Chicago. At that point, I knew I needed a "plan B". So, while I was rehabbing in Chicago, I fell in love with helping people. From that day forward, I started my NASM certification.
Q:Tell us about your own workout routine and diet...
A:Well my workout consist of high reps and high sets. On leg, chest and back day it's usually about 40 to 45 sets of different exercises. I spend about 2 hours in the gym and I just keep pushing myself until the point of no return! My diet is usually the same all year around if I'm not competing. My daily intake is about 2500 calories. Ex: 7 am: 6 eggs, 4 stripes of turkey bacon, toast and bowl of oatmeal. At 10,am: protein drink. At 1 pm: fish or chicken with red or sweet potatoes. At 4 30 pm: protein drink. At 7 pm: steak or chicken with rice and veggies. At 10 pm: snack time!
Q:How do you detail a workout and diet routine for your clients?
A:Well when it comes to my clients, I always do an assessment on them first, (like body fat measurements and their daily intake on food). After that, I see where they are physically. I start them out on treadmill for 10 to 15 minutes at 3.0 to see if they can handle that. That will give me a description on where their cardiovascular is at. After that I have them do some squats to check posture and how strong their lower body is. Then I'll have them do some sit-ups and band work. That's it for the first day. That 45 minute assessment will give me everything I need to know about my client.
Q:How did you hook up with Love and Hip Hop?
A:The way I got hooked up with Love and Hip Hop was through my cousin Yandy Smith, who spear headed the idea with Mona Scott Young!
Q:Nice! Tell us about PioneerFit?
A:Pioneerfit is a company I started with 3 other gentlemen, (Hashim Evans, Adolph Joseph and Dwayne Baldwin). Pioneer Fitness is a fitness studio that helps with sports and rehab condition, weight loss and weight gain, bodybuilding, massage therapy, classes strength and conditioning and kickboxing. We cover it all. We are based in the Long Island, New York.
Q:What other projects are you working on?
A:As of right now, I'm working on a show on OWN Network and we getting ready to open up our second location of Pioneerfitness in the city!
