A:Originally I am from New Smyrna Beach, FL… a small surfer town near Daytona and Orlando.
Q:Describe your first time at the gym...
A:My first time at the gym was at cheerleading practice in high school. I had no idea what I was doing, but I remember knowing them how badly I wanted a six pack. I fell in love with lifting, and I have been training and maintaining ever since.
Q:When did you know you could compete?
A:I knew I could compete when Mike Matassa, the owner of my gym, approached me and told me he could have me ready for the stage in 8 weeks. He became my coach and did just that.
Q:Why did you choose the figure division?
A:I chose the figure division after trying the bikini division for 2 years. It was a natural progression as I got stronger, and the posing and criteria were a better fit for me.
Q:Describe being on stage...
A:Being on stage is a flurry of emotion - excited, terrified, proud, humble, nervous, confident, happy, sad. It's all over in the blink of an eye.
Q:What does your diet and workout look like pre contest?
A:Pre-contest I really zero in the last 6 weeks on my diet and training. I start reducing carbs to lean out, eating a lot of lean protein and fresh vegetables, and taking less cheat meals. I lift 4-5 days a week, really focusing on the areas in which I want the most improvement. I do 30 minute HIIT sessions 3 days a week, usually on the Arc machine or stepmill.
Q:When are you competing again?
A:I am hoping to compete again in July, after my next powerlifting competition.
Q:Why did you get NASM certified?
A:I got NASM certified because I was already giving tips and advice to my friends and anyone online who would ask. I wanted to be sure I had a thorough knowledge of the subject, not just what I had picked up from another coach. I also train clients in my spare time, so I wanted the best certification available.
Q:Can you give us all of your social media handles?
