A:I was born in Puerto Rico, but moved to the DFW area when I was 2 years old. All of my relatives still live in Puerto Rico, and I visit as often as possible!! I LOVE my island! I now live in Austin TX. I moved there to go to the University of Texas and met my wonderful husband and we have lived here ever since!
Q:When did you gain an interest in working out?
A:I have always been a gym rat, but I didn't have the eating habits to go with it. In December of 2011, I decided to make a change, and the results were astounding! It pushed me to be better in every aspect of my life, and I literally became addicted to staying healthy and getting fitter! I did so much research on my own and learned about macros and different workout techniques. It was amazing to me just how you could mold your body to do what you wanted by just eating correctly and performing at the gym! It has been such a fun experience!
Q:When did you know you were ready for the IFBB?
A:Ready?! I am so honored to be a part of such a great league!!! Truthfully, you never feel 100% ready! In the end, it's solely about just focusing on yourself and how far you've come because if you keep comparing yourself to the other beautiful girls on that stage, you’ll never feel ready! I love the IFBB and am so excited to see what 2014 has to offer!
Q:Tell us about your diet…
A:I am a part of Team Bombshell and they write up all of my meal and workout plans. I can say that all of my plans have a healthy amount of carbs, fats, and proteins! I love my plans and there's always variety in them! In the off season I still follow my Bombshell plan, but just allow myself to have 2-3 cheats a week. I always stay no more than 5 lbs within stage weight. This way I don't have to work my butt off when it's time to hit the stage again!
Q:How do you keep such low body fat?
A:CONSISTENCY!!! Thats the key! If you stay consistent with your diet, your body will learn to stay small… even with less cardio. And a cheat here and there won't hurt. But the moment you start snacking regularly off your diet, that's where the fat and pounds start to rack up! This is something that I know a lot of girls struggle with… that post show binge! And for most of us, you have to learn the hard way! Staying on track and planning cheat meals is what keeps me sane and keeps my cravings in check. In the end, it's really about how much you really want it!
Q:Describe your favorite workout routines…
A:I can't live without cardio! In small amounts of course! =) A good sweat first thing in the morning is like drinking a cup of coffee! It wakes me up and gets me going for the day. My favorite types of cardio are HIIT routines. They can be done on any machine, indoors, or outdoors! I also really enjoy working shoulders! That’s my favorite workout day. Arnold Presses, clean and presses are my two favorite shoulder exercises!
Q:Where do you want your career to go from here?
A:I recently got my NASM certification, and I really want to grow a steady clientele in that aspect. I want to eventually open up my own gym, train people, and still compete! I have high goals in the IFBB and I won't stop until I get there! I have already accomplished things I could have never dreamed of and that only me pushes me to go further and keep going!
Q:Who do you credit as your biggest inspiration?
A:It's so hard for me to pick just ONE! There are so many inspiring and beautiful women out there that I frequently look to for motivation. Some of my top "women crushes" are Ashley Horner, Bella Falconi, Andreia Brazier, and Nathalia Melo. Every time I'm feeling low on motivation or drive, all I have to do is google pictures of these ladies, and BOOM! I'm back on my grind, pushing harder than ever! These women are out there conquering the world and they look gorgeous! Their hard work SHOWS!!! I hope to one day be able to say that I have accomplished as much as they have!
Q:Nice! Can you give us all of your social media handles?
