A:Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada…and now I am happy to call Hollywood my home.
Q:When did you know acting was going to be your calling?
A:I told my parents I wanted to move to Los Angeles and be an actress ever since I was four. My parents were reluctant to even let me take acting classes…but when I stole my Mum’s Shakespeare Anthology at the age of six and started memorizing monologues and sonnets, they let me enroll.
Q:Describe your time at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts...
A:It was lovely. I was really excited to finally make it to Los Angeles and make acting my career. I was honored with the Princess Grace Scholarship while studying there and had some amazing instructors. I really appreciated my time there.
Q:You play Brandi Maxxxx on the NBC show Parks and Recreation. How did you land that?
A:I auditioned for the role. I remember leaving the audition wishing I had done better…and then I got a call that I got the part! (Which just goes to show…you never know. Sometimes you feel like you “nailed it” and you don’t hear anything…sometimes you feel you kinda sucked and you get a callback? Lol.) There wasn’t even a callback. It’s definitely the most fun I have ever had on set in my life…ever. Everyone is so amazing on that set. I couldn’t dream up a more pleasant experience.
Q:Can you tell us about the film "Alongside Night"?
A:That actually hasn’t started filming yet. We are set to begin shooting next month in Nevada. Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) is attached. It is an interesting script and I have worked with the director before on Lady Magdalene’s (with Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek). I’m looking forward to it.
Q:How was your appearance on Chelsea Lately?
A:A ton of fun! I got to work with Guy Branum (he directed the piece), Sarah Colonna, Chuy Bravo, Heather McDonald and Chris Franjola – all hilarious comedians. It was a really great experience.
Q:What is the one piece of information that people don't know about you?
A:I am always early. I have a fear of being late, so I am often really early to things. Thankfully, I always carry my Kindle, iPhone (Words with Friends, SongPop, Draw Something, etc) and my Blackberry (BBM) to keep me entertained.
Q:What's the best part about the career you've chosen?
A:Every day is something different. You can be running around town, changing from “girl next door” to “hooker” wardrobes, auditioning one day and then working on an amazing show the next. Every day is an adventure, for sure.
Q:Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?
A:I hope to have my own tv show one day…that’s the goal. I’d love to keep doing comedy and I’m hoping that continues. I’ve started writing some things as well…so I am excited for what the future will bring.
Q:Can you give us your Twitter,Facebook,Instagram,Pinterest, blog and website handles?
Facebook: facebook.com/maramarini (although I don’t have a public page, so I only really add people I know)
Pinterest: popgloss (don’t use it that much)
