Q:Where are you from originally?
A:I grew up in Wasilla, AK. I later moved to Oregon and now reside in South Dakota.
Q:Do you remember the first time you were in a gym working out?
A:Yes, my mother worked at Gold’s Gym in AK and would take us as little toddlers with her while she worked out. I remember as I got older, she would show us how to do certain exercises. I would say the first actual workout I did in a gym I was probably 9 but had been in a gym since I was a toddler.
Q:Why did you decide to compete?
A:My brother, Aaron Orton, who is also a natural bodybuilder and owner of Genuine Fitness, is the one who convinced me to compete. He saw potential in me that I would have never been aware of. He was already a competitor and asked me to give it a shot. So I finally agreed and was hooked ever since my first show.
Q:How did the transition to fitness modeling happen?
A:I decided in 2013 to no longer compete because it was not healthy for me. I wanted to stay relevant in the industry without competing and had already done some fitness modeling. I knew that that avenue was much more sustainable and healthy for me so I put my energy into that instead of competing and never looked back.
Q:What was your perspective on the first time you met your husband Brandan, (I've interviewed him and he gave us his side lol)...
A:The first time we met was in Chicago. We had been talking prior to that but hadn’t ever officially met. He was working for Quest and I was competing. I remember being nervous and I walked right past him the first time (purposely) as I headed to the competitor meeting. He was wondering why I didn’t stop but the truth was I was super nervous. I then went to introduce myself to him with my best friend who was also competing. When I saw him for the first time I thought he was even better looking in person. I knew he was handsome but I did think he was extremely cute when I saw him in real life. The funny part is he wouldn’t look at me and kept staring at my best friend. I thought he liked her and was bummed. Only to later find out he was so nervous he said he couldn’t look at me and thats why he kept talking to her lol.
Q:Nice! Who is more competitive in the gym?
A:I would say me. I think growing up with two older brother and also lifting with my brother for years made me very competitive in the gym. Brandan is more low key and likes to stick to his routine. I like to challenge myself and switch things up.
Q:Tell us about ADO Fitness…
A:ADOFitness is the company I started back in 2013. I decided to start my own personal training business in Oregon when I left my ex. Back then it was just me training in person clients out of a keyless entry gym. Once I met Brandan and knew I would be moving I decided to take my business online. We have now been exclusively only for over 2 years. I also now employ four other trainers full time who work under me and the ADOFitness brand. Our philosophy is based around sustainability within fitness. Too many coaches are willing to damage others health and aren’t looking out for others well being, but rather focusing on a trophy on stage. We pride ourselves on achieving results in the healthiest manner possible.
Q:I respect that business model! What other projects are you currently working on?
A:I am always working. My business keeps me extremely busy and keeping all of my other trainers employed keeps me busy as well. Since I am now pregnant this is the first year I won’t be doing magazine photoshoots or prepping at all. So I will be enjoying the downtime to start our family! I do want to get a YouTube Chanel up though, so hopefully sooner than later I will get started on that!
Q:Whats next for your brand moving forward?
A:We have a lot in the works! We are constantly trying to grow in new ways. We have a clothing line already started but I would like to customize and sell more items including resistance bands and glute specific workout programs for the ladies. We are also working on a Ebook for recipes and macros. Lots of things getting tossed around, so you never know but we are definitely continuing to grow and improve! Most of our trainers will be competing this year and Lauren Irick one of our trainers will hopefully be making her Olympia debut this year.
