A:I am physically from Istanbul, Turkey, but my conscious passport says citizen of Earth! :)
Q:Okay lol! Why and when did you begin modeling?
A:I have been modeling since I was 3 years old. I started acting for commercials and doing photo shoots in Istanbul, Turkey. At first, modeling was my family's idea, which then turned into my choice as I grew up. They thought that I was very outgoing, social and comfortable around people and that I would enjoy being part of different and fun projects. Exact the same reasons why I still enjoy it! :)
Q:Where have you been featured? What roles have you been in?
A:I have been featured in magazines such as Klass and Women's Health in Turkey both for fitness and editorial shoots. Although I enjoyed working as a model for years, my passion grew profoundly for acting and dancing, which are the areas I focused on improving myself daily. I had the pleasure of working as a hip hop dancer in music videos for artists such as Florida, Pitbull, Gloria Estefan and Ne-Yo in Miami.
Some of my favorite commercial shoots that I worked on are Ford Auto, Omega swimming commercial for the 2012 London Olympic games, Just Live Brand, Nokia in USA, and Vodafone Dreams Academy campaign and print in Turkey. I also worked on a TV series called "Concrete Dove", which was a special project for me since my acting coach Marc Durso was also the director.
The most exciting project I worked on this year is a documentary called "Diving is Freedom" by Ercan Tutal and Alternative Life Association. This is a documentary we shot emphasizing the equality and freedom for disabled and disadvantaged people through the use of sports (especially scuba diving), and the healing effects of the underwater world. I am currently acting the lead role for a film called "Duplicity".
Q:How do you remain fit for your shoots?
A:Being fit is a product of an active lifestyle for me. I enjoy starting my day with a sunrise yoga & tai chi, continue with weight lifting, dance rehearsals, swimming in the ocean, paddle boarding, hiking in nature and enjoying the outdoors. I don't have a specific regimen that I follow. I might do a CrossFit wod one day, calisthenics workout another, dance, stretch whatever pushes me to be better while having fun. When it comes to nutrition, I am more cautious about chemicals in our foods than counting calories. My philosophy is to make clean and smart choices with every meal in a sustainable way. I believe that whatever needs to be maintained by force is doomed. That's why I prefer to create a lifestyle of health and fitness while practicing my passions. If I follow my bliss consciously, then I end up being fit for my shoots! :)
Q:Why did you get into acting?
A:When I was 5 years old, my mom used to take me by the sea and we would have beautiful conversations for hours. She would record those talks and ask me all kinds of questions that valued my inner world greatly. That's why I have always been comfortable in front of the camera, or in a group of people voicing my opinion. The way my family raised me and the seed of confidence they planted in me, naturally grew into a life that is curious, eager to learn and observant. I took diverse courses and certifications throughout the years from tactical shooting to horseback riding. One day I was an EMT, working for Ocean Rescue, another day I was a mentor for underprivileged high school kids. Life is multidimensional. There are so many aspects and colors to the spectrum that I enjoy experiencing. Acting allows me to do that by putting those different experiences to use, and by becoming whomever I want to be. I cherish the change and growth that comes with it. I constantly learn and observe human behavior, feel connected to all beings and challenge myself to expend my horizon to endless possibilities in the universe. That's why acting is a passion of mine that I love to practice.
Q:You're also a marine biologist. What is the most interesting aspect of this career?
I wanted to become a marine biologist since I was 12 years old. It all started with my uncle giving me a membership gift to Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society. OFS was part of a pioneering effort to rehabilitate orca Keiko ("Free Willy"), and give him the opportunity to return to the wild after more than 20 years in captivity. I would read for hours every day to learn more about Keiko, who he was, his family and home. The mysterious world of the oceans intrigued me for years to become a marine biologist, and I finally got to study my dream at the University of Miami. My zeal for learning about Cetaceans (dolphins, whales and porpoises) pushed me to teach myself English, brought me to USA, and later on introduced me to the world of Quantum Physics and meditation. Seeing how cetaceans are using a communication system as beautiful as echolocation, made me think that there can be much more to verbal silence than we know. The way they could synchronize hours of singing in great frequencies, located in different oceans, taught me about what being connected truly means. Being in their physical presence makes you feel an incredible sense of wisdom and knowledge. When you have an eye contact with them, you can truly feel that they are looking deep into your soul. The most interesting aspect of this career then I can say, is the astonishing connection I feel for my friends in the sea, and how it has been the most amazing guide for my journey, taking me to the places I need to be.
Q:What other projects are you working on? Can you give us all of your social media handles?
A:I also work as a Life Coach and Master NLP Instructor in Miami Beach. Being able to help individuals tap into their true power and achieve their dreams is a very fulfilling job. I am in the process of starting my company, which will help others align, flow and evolve their lives to incredible heights and depths. I also work as a realtor for Worldwide Properties and as a Creative Director for a comprehensive telecom management company called Teleco.IO.
I would like to shortly talk about a very special project that I have been a volunteer of since I was 12 years old. Alternative Life Association is a non-governmental organization in Turkey that was established with the purpose of increasing awareness on the needs of socially and physically disadvantaged people, and their integration into social life. We aim to create alternative and innovative social projects which include education, sports, tourism and health elements and thus convert this “major minority” to a productive and active society that can take part in social life independently.
"Alternative Life Camp", a non-profit, international integration and sports facility for all socially disadvantage people, and "Dreams Academy", which provides cultural and artistic training free of charge for the disabled and socially disadvantaged people are two of the branches of our organization. I am very excited to also announce that we recently opened a new Dreams Village Academy in Kas, Turkey. I would like to invite all volunteers around the world who would like to make a change, to come and join us with our cause! For more information you can visit: http://www.duslerakademisi.org/en
I currently use Instagram for social media, since my websites are being reconstructed as we speak. You can find me on IG as "CetaCane". The new website links will be announced there soon.
Much love and light!
