Interview with IFBB Pro Marilena Echohawk aka @IFBBPROMarilena

Q:Where were you born and raised, and where do you call home now a days?

A:I was born in Longmont Colorado and raised in Frederick Colorado.. I now reside in Thornton.

Q:Describe the thought process when you first knew you wanted to become a physique competitor..

A:Heels or no heels haha!  That was my initial first thought.  ;)  I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I was told I was too muscular for figure, and although I was still placing well, I was advised to switch to women’s physique. So I was def on the fence of do I cross over and try the "unknown" or continue to try to stick it out in figure and try to lose some muscle. I was def nervous about the routines and the new posing...but I liked my look and the description of what WP was going to be so I made my decision pretty quickly after competing at Jr nats, went to Team U two weeks later and turned pro!

Q:What does a typical week long workout routine look like for Marilena?

A:My workouts start with an hour of cardio at 4 am.  I go back to the gym after I get off work and will weight train and do another round of cardio.  My weight training usually consists of back two days a week ,shoulders two days a week, legs every other day, and arms once a week.

Q:Can you give us your off season and pre contest diets?

A:My off season and pre contest diets pretty much consist of the same foods.. I tend to stay with lean ground turkey, tilapia, chicken and egg whites for my protein, oats, sweet potatoes, rice for my carbs, and avacado or almonds for fats.  Depending on where I am in my prep will depend on how many carbs I get in a day.  My coach  has me on a carb rotation low, med and high days. I try not to get too far off from stage weight so the off season diet stays pretty strict and I usually get a cheat meal a week.

Q:You're also a Fitness Model. How did you get into modeling?

A:I actually started modeling when I was 13.  I modeled a lot through my teenage years, took some time off from it  and then started up again when I got into competing..

Q:What's the funniest photo shoot story you can share?

A:I’d have to say when I  did a photoshoot for a cowboy boot line, they had this great idea that they wanted me to get on a horse.. I had never even been around horses... needless to say I could barely get on the thing, the minute I did the horse freaked out took off and I’m hanging off this horse for dear life!  The photographer thought it was the  funniest thing ever so he just kept snapping pictures.. I was not a happy girl!

Q:You're also a bank manager. Is the security really that hard to breach?

A:Well if I told you I’d have to kill you;)

Q:Fair enough lol. Someone wants to become a physique competitor like yourself, what piece of advice would you give her?

A:I would tell her to train hard , stay focused, make every workout count... when she feels she want to quit..push that much harder..and most of  all HAVE FUN!

Q:Do you have any website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest  or blog links for the people to get in contact with you or just learn more about you?

A:Yes I do;)  my website is www.marilenaechohawk.com , my face book link is http://www.facebook.com/index.php?lh=c8b0f203803046bfb28cd51cb0fd138a&#!/pages/Marilena-EchoHawk-IFBB-Pro-Physique/172523392825098, Twitter is under @Ifbbpromarilena , email  ifbbpromarilena@gmail.com , and youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/MarilenaEchohawk?feature=guide,  ...I think that is everyway possible to get a hold of me!
